Lady Cats Crowned 2010 State Champions
I Beat Pete takes on Lady Cats Wednesday
I Beat Pete, Pete Christy, from News Channel 11, will be at Smyer Tuesday, March 9, to take on the State Champion Lady Cats.  The challenge will be in the high school gym at 2:30.  The competition will air Wednesday, March 10, on News Channel 11.  Let's go Lady Cats!
Smyer Elementary, Smyer High School, Smyer ISD = Recognized
TEA has relased their annual list of School Accountability ratings, and Smyer ISD is proud to announce that Smyer Elementary, Smyer HS, and Smyer ISD have all received the rating of Recognized.  Texas annually rates its public schools and districts on the academic performance of their students. Congratulations on a job well done students and staff!

Lady Cats Crowned 2010 State Champions
The Lady Cats marched to Austin and brough home the 2010 State Championship and making their mark as the first team in Smyer ISD history to ever to advance to state competition.  They defeated #21 Louise in the first game and #8 Martins Mill in the second game.  Haley Fowler, sophomore, was named the tournament Most Valuable Player and Fowler and Nikki Gholson, sophomore, were honored on the All State Tournment Team.  Other members of the team include: seniors Jesse Daniel and Bailey Robertson, juniors Alaina Alexander, Ashley Escobedo, and Kelsey Seigman, sophomores Landrie Burnam, Marissa Garcia, and freshmen Kennedy Farr, Cassi Hernandez, and Jordan Locke.  The Lady Cats are coached by Leland Bearden and assited by Elaine Daniel and Mike Schaap. Stats are kept by Mary Beth Sims.  Managers for the Lady Cats are Lexi Fowler, Lisa Harding,  Katrine Haugaard, Brogan Henley, Regina Moore, and Josefin Wickstrom.

Learn Counselor will work with seniors and their parents the first Monday of each month in the counseling center on financial aid (namely the Pell Grant).  Parents can call Mr.s Sarah Morrison at 234-3871 if they wish to make an appointment with the Learn Counselor.
