IMPORTANT School Closure Information
03/19/2020

Dear Parents,

As you may be aware, Governor Greg Abbott has issued an executive order closing all schools in the State of Texas until after April 3rd. We are working on details for how we can begin providing food service options for students beginning next week. We will get the information out as soon as we have it finalized. All Smyer ISD facilities will be closed until further notice.

Smyer  ISD teachers and staff, please check your email tomorrow for information on how we will coordinate meetings next week to begin making plans for distance learning options.

Parents, we will spend next week (March 23-27) making plans for how to provide instruction through distance learning options to your children. We will provide this information by the end of next week and will begin providing instructional activities on Monday, March 30th.

Please remember to practice social distancing during this time and to continue to abide by the suggestions given for how to practice proper health and wellness practices.

Please encourage your children, especially the secondary age students, to not congregate during this time of pandemic.

We will be in touch with more information on food service in the coming days.

Thank you. Please take care of yourselves and follow the guidelines that have been suggested for how to stop the spread of this virus.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact your child's campus principal.

Sincerely,

Dane Kerns

Smyer ISD Supt.
